                Beeswax Candle                                          Properties and Safety

BLOOM - Pure beeswax will develop a soft patina, known as a "Bloom", over time giving the candle a cloudy appearance. This patina is evidence of the purity of the beeswax used to make our candles. The bloom naturally develops with age and exposure to cooler temperatures. To restore the luster of your candles, simply polish  them with a soft cloth.

BURNING PROPERTIES & QUALITIES - In general, beeswax candles burn brighter, longer and cleaner than other candles. As long as you burn your candles in a controlled environment and away from drafts, your candles should not drip or smoke. Burning in a draft will cause your candles to drip!

Under normal conditions you may expect the following burn times or better:

  • 9 inch beeswax tapers - 8 1/2 hours
  • 6 inch beeswax tapers - 5 1/2 hours
  • Votives - approx. 12-15 hours

The base size of our tapers is 1 inch. Therefore, to fit some candle holders, trimming of the base may be required.

There is no need to add any scent to our tapers as beeswax naturally has a sweet honey scent that fills a room.

Interesting Note: The flame that is produced when burning a beeswax candle emits negative ions that will  clean the air of its impurities and reportedly can stimulate the body by enhancing creativity and dream activity.

BURNING TIPS - Please follow the following saftey tips whenever burning candles.

  • Never leave a burning candle unattended.
  • Keep burning candles away from children and pets.
  • Don't place near flammable objects such as curtains, walls, etc ...
  • Burning your candle in a drafty area will cause it to burn faster than normal and drip. (Such as in front of a window or near a fan.) Burning candles in a controlled environment will maximize burn time and enjoyment.
  • Before lighting your candle trim the wick to 1/8" - 1/4" to avoid carbon buildup and smoking.
  • After burning your candles for several hours you may notice the flame is larger than desired or that your candle is beginning to produce soot and smoke. Snuff it out and let it rest it rest.
  • Allow candle to cool before re-lighting remember to trim the wick back.
  • Votives, pillars, jarred or tinned beeswax candles should be burned for longer periods of time. They should have a nice pool of melted wax on the top before extinguishing. If not, they will tunnel and you will not receive the maximum enjoyment time from your candle.
